I am an avid photographer who has spent a lot of time at a major international airport. Since I almost always have my camera with me, and I love taking pictures of airliners, I have A LOT of pictures of airliners.... I would like to share some of the thousands of images of incredible flying machines from my library with you! Enjoy the magnificence of flight! Welcome to one part of my world!
Visions of Airliners
Welcome to my photo blog! Most of these photos were shot from the catwalk outside the control tower at San Francisco International Airport (SFO, KSFO). While it offers a great view of the airliners, it was not always an easy place to shoot from. Often very windy and cold (especially in Summer!), it is a very noisy place and you can often smell the Jet A burning. The biggest difficulty is that I am still a mile or more away from most of the jetliners that I am trying to photograph. Since I am usually shooting with a telephoto lens at 300-400mm it is more luck than skill to get a sharp image when the wind is buffeting you around.
