AirFrance A380

AirFrance now serves SFO with the A380 with daily flights to and from Paris.

Flaps down and spoilers still deployed after landing.
The A380 has a huge wingspan of 261.6 feet that restricts its movements at KSFO.
There are specific routes that the A380 must stay on to and from the terminal.

An A380 costs about $375 Million.
Max takeoff weight is 1,250,000 lbs.
Max landing weight is 850,000 lbs.....
just a little less than the max takeoff weight of a B747-400!

The difference between MTOW and MLW
is the weight of the fuel you have burned to get from there to here...

California One

San Francisco International Airport
California One
Southwest Airlines
N609SW
Boeing 737-3H4
Serial number 27929 manufactured 1995
I have waited a long time to get a good picture of this aircraft.
Southwest used to have a B737-200 painted in this color scheme,
and the first time I saw it I thought I want a picture of that airplane!
They have several other aircraft painted in colorful U.S. state schemes.

(Right on time in typical German precision)

Lufthansa's A380 gets a Fire Department water cannon salute...

The A380's tail is so tall that the water cannon can't even shoot over it!

New United colors

Continental and United are in the process of merging into the new United Airlines and their planes are being repainted in the new colors.

747-400 in the new colors.
A couple of the old colors are parked at the SuperBay in the background.

A Continental B737-800 repainted in United colors.
United never had any 800's so you know that this one came from Continental.

A B757 on Twy B passes an A319 waiting for a flow time to LAX. Both Continental and United have B757's, so you have to look at the "N" numbers to find out their origin.
Notice the N numbers end in "UA" These are both United aircraft repainted in the New United colors. In the background is an old colors B757 taking off.

Newly renovated Terminal 2 is ready for opening on April 14.
